It felt like time for an actual tiny slice of nature in my jacket buttonhole. And for good measure, a map of Delaware (of all places) in my breast pocket
Make me understand something. Exactly what is a boutonniere, is it the buttonhole on the lapel? Or is it the act of putting something in the buttonhole?
Very kind, Chris. I'm looking forward to a new season greatly
Mxolisi,
The terms 'boutonnière' and 'buttonhole' refer to the floral adornment, although the latter term obviously describes the actual buttonhole sewn into the lapel, also. It's normally held in place by a sturdy loop of thread on the reverse, although this detail today is mainly found on bespoke commissions (as long as the tailor and/or the client are savvy enough to include it) and higher end brands like Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche and Aquascutum Ltd. For this occasion, I used a pin

Born in the 21st century, Mode Parade gabs about the populist, the obscure and the ridiculous in lifestyle, aesthetics, fashion, luxury and its creator's kaleidoscopic taste in coats in as prolix a manner as possible. Occasionally, there are tasteful moments too, such as Orientalist pop songs
Mode Parade and its author, Barima, have been featured in the internationally published books Fashion Blogs by Kirstin Hanssen and Felicia Nitzsche with Elina Tozzi, Am I A Chap? by Gustav Temple and I am Dandy by Rose Callahan and Nathaniel Adams. A portrait from I Am Dandy advertises and features in the Dandy Lion exhibition and book by Shantrelle P. Lewis
